Your ads work. Your website leaks.

A founder shows us her dashboard. The ads are fine: clicks at a decent price, thousands of visitors a month. Then the confession: almost nobody buys. Her conclusion is that she needs better ads, more budget, a new agency for the campaigns.

Usually she needs none of those. The ads did their job. They brought a stranger to the door. The door is the problem.

The five second audit

A paid visitor gives you about five seconds before deciding whether you are real. In those five seconds, on a phone, three questions get answered by feel, not by reading:

  1. Is this a real company? Judged by design quality, photo quality, and whether anything looks broken.
  2. Is this for me? Judged by whether the first screen mirrors the promise in the ad they tapped.
  3. Will this be effort? Judged by load speed and how far away the buy button feels.

Fail any one and the back button fires. Your analytics records it politely as a bounce. Your bank records it as ad spend with no return.

Where stores leak, in order of damage

  • Speed. Every extra second of load is rent paid on attention you already bought. Heavy themes, uncompressed images and app scripts are the usual thieves.
  • Ad to page mismatch. The ad promised a specific product and feeling. The click lands on a generic homepage. The thread snaps and so does the sale.
  • Trust gaps at the money moment. No local payment logos, vague delivery promises, no reviews, a checkout that suddenly looks different from the store. Doubt is a tax, and it compounds at the exact moment the card comes out.
  • Nothing answers questions. A boutique has a person behind the counter. Most stores have silence. Every unanswered doubt walks out quietly.
  • One path only. Not ready to buy today means gone forever, unless something captures the maybe: a quiz, a set builder, a WhatsApp line, a reason to return.
More budget pours more water through the same cracked bucket. Fix the bucket first.

The order to fix things in

Do not redesign everything at once. Money moves in this order:

  1. Make the page fast on a phone connection. This is the cheapest conversion work that exists.
  2. Match every ad to a page that continues its exact promise.
  3. Stack proof where the money moves: payment logos, honest delivery times, real reviews near the button.
  4. Give the undecided a second path: ask a question, take a quiz, save the cart.
  5. Only then touch the ad budget again, because now each click is worth more.

How we know

We build and operate stores with real ad spend behind them. The systems above, honest delivery copy, concierge chat, a scent quiz for the undecided, exist because bounces cost us real money before they cost our clients any. The playbook in our builds is the one that survived a real bank statement.
